Adam Biography

Adam Mackenzie Stewart is an ordained pastor, worship leader, songwriter, poet, writer, missionary, conference speaker with a passion to see believers equipped to preach the gospel in the power of signs and wonders, inspired and uplifted with the joy of the Lord, released to impact all realms of society and every country in the world.

Growing up in a traditional church setting where there were some beautiful services but no encounters with a living God, Adam’s longing was to see the God of the Bible move in real life. Were the miracles of God only in stained glass windows in old church buildings or was God objectively alive today? Could we have a real relationship with God now or only learn facts about God from the Bible? This quest for the truth led Adam through a wide variety of places and journeys.

Adam was born in Rochester, NY to two very interesting parents. Adam’s dad is a former hippie, practicing acupuncturist, doctor of Chinese medicine, Tai Chi master. His Dad grew up with a Reformed Presbyterian background at 3rd Presbyterian church where Charles Finney led the Rochester revivals in the 1800s.

Adam’s mom is a conservative Missouri-Synod Lutheran organist/choir director with a love for gardening. Adam grew up somewhere in between the worlds of traditional church, rock concerts, and Asian martial arts culture. In High School he pursued a music career playing in the indie rock scene in Milwaukee, WI and 6th street in Austin, TX recorded and released 2 albums and toured within Wisconsin, Texas and New York including shows opening for grammy nominated recording artist Ari Hest.

Despite growing up around church, it wasn’t until high school Adam received Jesus interestingly after hearing a pastor share about the two Adam’s from Paul’s letter to the Romans 5, how through one Adam everything in the world went wrong down the road of sin and rebellion and through Jesus (New Adam) the world was saved/redeemed. Suddenly the gospel clicked and made sense. Later, while studying abroad in London, Adam got on fire for Jesus and became sold out to “live in whatever way was most for God’s glory and the salvation of souls”.

Adam has a BA in Theology/Christian Education from Concordia University and studied at Oak Hill Theological College in London, UK, Austin Graduate School of Theology in Austin, TX and Fuller Theological Seminary in California studying towards an MDiv. He is also a graduate from all three years of Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry in Redding, CA and has been in ministry for over 15 years including helping to plant 3 churches, serving on staff in many roles from youth pastor, assistant pastor, worship pastor, helping found and overseeing a house of prayer, founding a Campus Crusade for Christ at Concordia University, and helping pioneer new ministry initiatives, and serving as a resource and catalyst to existing ministries, in the US and abroad in Europe.

While at Bethel Adam studied worship under Brian & Jenn Johnson in 1st year, and served in the outreach department under Kevin Dedmon and Chris Overstreet, helping to lead weekly Treasure Hunt outreaches, mentor, teach, equip and faciliate at Bethel Firestarters, as well as participating in community outreaches where roughly 100 homeless people and skaters at a skate park were fed weekly, ministered to, baptized in water, and God regularly showed up in miraculous ways.

Adam has a passion for a sometimes skeptical generation to encounter an objectively real God in a tangible way and experience His love and power, and He has witnessed multiple atheists repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior on more than one occasion after God demonstrated his power in an unusual way. His heart is to raise up a generation of people as bold as Elijah to challenge the modern day prophets of Baal that the real God may be demonstrated over and over again as real against all false gods who no power.

The Hear God course was developed as a way to help equip the church to live out the reality of I Cor 14:23-24 in such a way that skeptics could not doubt that God was real, as well as so every believer can experience true intimacy with a Living God. Adam’s belief is that Jesus did not die only to give us a future heaven after we die, but to win back and restore His tangible presence and His voice to His sheep (the church) today, and that what Adam & Eve lost in the garden, Christ’s redemptive work in fact re-claimed since the power of the cross and resurrection is greater than the original sin.

Having battled depression before getting on fire for Jesus, as a secular singer/songwriter, Adam is now passionate about the joy of the Lord and seeing the church walk in the same joy that Jesus himself walked in.

On March 17, 2016 on St Patrick’s day Adam was ordained into pastoral ministry. Saint Patrick was one of the first believers since the apostolic period to win a whole nations and that’s been Adam’s prayer to see whole nations saved and transformed by the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Adam has preached and ministered around the United States and Europe, specifically Norway, Spain, and France in Christian groups of many denominations including both protestant and Roman Catholic.

Adam is married to Hannah since and resides in Mckinney, TX a historic suburb of Dallas, Texas, and have 2 beautiful children. One of his greatest joys is to be a father.

Adam currently serves as the worship pastor for both the Cause Church (Sunday morning) and Next Level Revival Church (Sunday night), additionally Adam & Hannah are members of the Upper Room Dallas church and he serves as an intercessory missionary in the prayer room that is “transforming lives morning, noon and night” as well as serving the local and global church through Stewart Ministries.

I’ll be honest – writing an about me page has always stumped me because I would much rather meet someone over coffee than write about myself, but here goes nothing.

I’m a 7w6 on the enneagram and am pretty obsessed with personality tests (yes I’m one of those people). I go barefoot as much as I can, own 6 different ways to make coffee and dream of having a large family and traveling all over the world with my kids.

I married the love of my life 4 years ago and am convinced that everyone needs to get married! Marriage is such a beautiful thing and I love having an adventure buddy for life. We are hopeless romantics and love coming up with new, spontaneous date ideas. Our favorite date currently is finding a secluded spot, sipping wine and watching the sunset.

In my free time I love worship dancing at my church, hanging with friends, discovering a new coffee shop, and watching Friends.

The person I am the MOST passionate about is Jesus. Without Him I am nothing. He is my greatest inspiration. I believe all art and beauty can and should be a form of worship to him. Psalm 150:6 - Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. As long as I'm breathing, as long as I'm creating I want everything to be for Him!
